About The Position

Performs routine analyses using materials Engineering tools and standard instruments and test equipment while positively impacting the organization’s performance. This position will be working in the Vibration and materials lab supporting daily testing per test request for product development (PPT), and DVP&R for VPI program. This position will provide support on the vibration and materials lab test stands and other non-standard testing associated with vibration and materials testing. Looking for an individual that is a self-starter, process ordinated, very organized, able to multi-task with the capability to manage test load independently. This position will require strong communication skills to interact with the engineering group and a working knowledge with Microsoft office programs is preferred. Demonstrate an understanding of the functioning test equipment used to perform tests and the contribution of the test equipment to the validity of test results. Understand the functioning of the product under test to assess the contribution of the product to the validity of the test results. Evaluate test results and generate test reports that meet the needs of the customer including graphical representation of data and historical evaluation and interpretation of test results. Support the development of test procedures and calibration plans. Capable of test stand installation, troubleshooting, setup/teardown and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Perform non-standard tests associated with vibration and materials products. Support other lab areas as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Associate’s degree or certification may be required depending on region.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operates analytical instruments and equipment and performs physical analysis in support of production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.
  • Prepares samples and specimens for testing using standard laboratory techniques, procedures, or work instructions.
  • Acquires and interprets data and documents results; provides written results in a laboratory or technical report format when appropriate.
  • Develops and documents laboratory methods.
  • Performs routine calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of instruments and equipment.
  • Coordinates the collection, transportation, and documentation of chemical waste disposal.
  • Works with and trains apprentices, trainees, and technicians.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
  • Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
  • Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Participates in improvement projects.
  • Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.
  • Participates in self and team audits and associated corrective action.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required.
  • Performs laboratory tests, develop test plans, and summarize test data for engineering reports.
  • Support the development of test procedures and calibration plans.
