About The Position

The Laboratory Operations Subsection Manager leads the people, facilities, and operating rhythm of the Edison Works Military Material Systems laboratories. The role translates program needs into reliable laboratory capacity and output, supporting development, industrialization, and manufacturing of ceramic, polymeric, and metallic materials for military products. The manager leads engineers, technicians, and senior professionals and is accountable for safe, quality, cost-effective, and on-time laboratory throughput. The position ensures material systems are developed and matured into test-ready specimens for characterization, processes are documented, and materials progress through technology and manufacturing readiness maturation. It also leads facility and equipment upgrades, establishes low-rate engineering, manufacturing, and development production activities, and helps build and scale the team as the mission grows. The role applies program and project management discipline across concurrent laboratory and maturation efforts, identifies risks to cost and schedule, and uses GE Aerospace FLIGHT DECK (lean) principles and daily management to improve laboratory flow and foster problem solving. The manager collaborates across GE Aerospace and with research organizations, product line leaders, senior leaders, and external agency customers.
