Materials and Logistic Manager
About The Position
The Materials and Logistics Manager oversees the organization, movement, and storage of purchased, fabricated, and in-process materials. The role manages, coaches, and trains personnel in the material handling and shipping departments, and directs material handling, inventory control, warehousing, transportation, and workforce requirements in a cost-effective manner. The manager ensures accurate inventory transactions in the ERP system, develops purchasing strategies, negotiates shipping and supplier costs, and works to improve the facility’s supply chain. The position also leads or supports efficiency improvements and identifies and implements cost-saving opportunities related to materials and transportation costs. The manager develops and maintains monthly material cycle-count plans and leads annual physical inventory planning. The position is onsite in Canton, Ohio, and reports to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the organization, movement, and storage of purchased, fabricated, and in-process materials.
- Manage, coach, and train personnel in the material handling and shipping departments.
- Direct material handling, inventory control, warehouse, transportation, and worker requirements cost-effectively.
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions in the ERP system.
- Develop purchasing strategies and drive down costs.
- Develop new strategies for the facility’s supply chain.
- Negotiate shipping and supplier costs.
- Lead, participate in, or otherwise support efficiency improvements for the facility and company.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities related to materials and transportation costs.
- Develop and maintain a plan for monthly material cycle counts.
- Lead annual physical inventory and planning.
