Sr. Material Handler - Forklift

About The Position

BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator for its distribution center. The role assists with safely loading trucks and unloading railcars, handling building materials, and supporting distribution and shipping operations. Material Handlers are expected to emphasize safety and quality of service while working as part of a team. The position operates on a Monday–Friday schedule and pays $22.40 per hour. Requirements

One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
Ability to safely and proficiently use a forklift to transport products and load or unload trucks.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to work independently, at times under pressure.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
Detail-oriented and organized, with basic math skills.
Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
Load and unload building materials from trailers or railcars while minimizing damage.
Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and bulk materials.
Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work and assigned areas.
Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
