About The Position

This position is responsible for various material handling tasks to support production operations. The Material Handler ensures that production lines are adequately stocked with materials, manages waste and recyclables, and assists with machine change-overs. The role also involves basic machine troubleshooting, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to all safety and company guidelines. The Material Handler may also fill in for Production Operators as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic computer usage including mouse.
  • Skilled with a pallet jack.
  • Ability to learn label printing software.
  • Basic understanding of English to read work orders and write information.
  • Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to visually inspect required coding, product labeling, and finished goods to match products with the appropriate packaging.
  • Ability to develop thorough understanding of operational procedures to practice safe manufacturing.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, and walking for extended periods of time on a concrete floor, and frequently lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 25 pounds.
  • Position spends approximately 95% of time standing at a production machine and 5% walking or moving about the production area.
  • Vision must be within or correctable to within normal range.
  • Must work from the McKinney office and be able to work on time on a regular basis during scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operations for the next shift start-up.
  • Stage material at lines for the production schedule.
  • Return unused material to stock.
  • Remove recyclables and empty trash.
  • Label and erect cases and boxes for all lines in operation.
  • Keep vial and cap hoppers filled for each line.
  • Record lot numbers of all components used.
  • Assist line operators with change-overs.
  • Print labels for jobs.
  • Supply pallets to each line, wrap finished pallets, and move them to the warehouse.
  • Complete required inventory transactions for receiving materials and transferring finished goods.
  • Review the production schedule, pull materials for the next job, and stage them for each line.
  • Relocate unused materials, waste, and recyclable materials to their appropriate storage areas.
  • Fill in for Production Operators, as needed.
  • Perform basic trouble-shooting on machines.
  • Escalate machine problems to the Maintenance Technician and/or Supervisor.
  • Complete electronic timecard daily.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Actively demonstrate teamwork.
  • Follow all OSHA and Company safety guidelines, including use of PPE.
  • Adhere to company safety standards.
  • Follow other policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
