About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating material movement between departments, sorting questionable materials, printing and distributing pick tickets, and performing necessary computer transactions. The Material Handler ensures production schedules are met by accurately processing and moving goods, and assists during peak times by operating material handling equipment. They also maintain good communication with management and employees, and may assist supervisors with continuous improvement projects, equipment evaluation, training needs determination, and hiring. The position involves monitoring shop floor control systems, adhering to safety procedures, wearing proper PPE, and proactively identifying and correcting unsafe conditions. Additionally, they study systems and procedures for improvement opportunities and propose changes to the Materials Manager. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
  • Forklift Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements.
  • Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
  • Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
  • Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
  • Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
  • Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
  • Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
  • When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
  • Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
  • Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE.
  • Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
  • Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement.
  • Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
