About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Material Handler - 2nd shift at our Oakleys Ct site in Richmond, VA. The pay rate for this position is $19.47 + $2 shift differential per hour. This site is currently offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires. Core hours are 3:30pm - 12:00am.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting is inherent to this position.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills
  • Maintain 5S and housekeeping in work area
  • Maintain health and safety equipment in good working order
  • Know and follow established job specific and facility wide health and safety procedures and rules

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to use computer systems for the input and tracking of materials

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment to stow, pick, deliver, unload, and transport materials to storeroom and point of use locations.
  • Visually inspect materials for damage and ensure proper handling and protection throughout storage and movement.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas in accordance with 5S guidelines.
  • Utilize RF scanners to accurately transact and track material movement within inventory systems.
  • Operate stretch wrap machines and wrapping tools to secure loads prior to storage or transport.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels by coordinating material movement, consolidating inventory across locations, and locating materials as needed to support operations.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory activities.
  • Notify internal customers of material receipts or items marked to their attention.
  • Flex between material handler areas and perform additional duties as operational needs require.
  • Perform internal truck driving duties, including timely pickups and deliveries, and assist with product receipt and delivery to outside vendors and contractors.
  • Use a forklift or power equipment to move and store a variety of materials, parts, and products.
  • Transport items from incoming staging area or from finished goods staging area to a storage area and/or shipping area.
  • Operate an overhead crane or hoist to assist in moving of material.
  • Complete related documentation associated with shipping and receiving material.
  • Move or expedite material to the proper department.
