About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Material Handler handles and maintains the flow of materials and products on the premises according to established guidelines. This entry-level position includes on-the-job training. The role is based in a production environment and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
• Manual dexterity.
• Knowledge of safety procedures while performing materials-handling tasks.
• Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
• May be required to perform tasks involving climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.

Responsibilities

• Physically handle materials used to construct components and finished products, lifting, carrying, and stacking items as needed to optimize their movement.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment; some equipment may require specialized training.
• Respond attentively to training from a foreman or more senior handlers to increase knowledge of work processes.
• Understand and observe safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or coworkers; attend periodic safety meetings as required and may recommend safety procedure improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
