About The Position

Builders FirstSource is hiring an entry-level Material Handler to handle and maintain the flow of materials and products at its North Highlands, California premises. Under direct supervision, the employee moves and organizes materials according to established guidelines. On-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
• Manual dexterity.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for materials handling tasks.
• Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Physically handle materials used to construct components and finished products, lifting, carrying, and stacking items as needed to optimize their movement.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment; some equipment may require specialized training.
• Respond to training from a foreman or more senior handlers to build knowledge of work processes.
• Understand and observe safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to oneself and coworkers.
• Attend periodic safety meetings as required and potentially recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
