About The Position

The Material Handler is focused on moving, loading, and unloading glass and metal products throughout the plant to expedite the production process. As a vital member of the 2nd Shift Lamination Department, you will rotate through various phases of the laminating process to keep production moving safely and efficiently. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is ideal for a reliable team player looking to build a career with an industry leader.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to read, understand, communicate, and perform general mathematical equations.
  • Regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize work under deadlines and work overtime when required.
  • Stand and walk for the entire shift on a concrete floor (up to 10 hours).
  • Lift, push, pull, or move up to 75 lbs. individually and 150 lbs. with a partner.
  • Constant physical movement: Reaching, handling, grasping, twisting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Visual acuity to safely inspect glass products for quality flaws.
  • Proper wear of all company-issued safety gear (safety shirt, hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection).
  • Ability to work in moderate to high noise levels and temperatures consistent with regional outdoor climate conditions (heat, humidity, cold).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience inside a production or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to drive a forklift and work around overhead cranes; basic computer knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Move glass and metal products safely from tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including driving a forklift and working around an overhead vacuum-assisted 3-ton crane.
  • Transport and rotate materials manually or with equipment through various phases of the laminating process.
  • Read work orders and follow strict job standards for safety, quality, and production efficiency.
  • Inspect product quality for visual flaws and ensure materials meet product specifications.
  • Use a tape measure to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements accurately.
  • Attach appropriate labels and tags to products, packages, and required paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean work area and immediately notify the supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
