About The Position

As a Material Handler at Sonoco, you will support the movement and organization of raw materials and finished wood reels throughout the Jefferson, Texas facility. Reporting to the Team Lead, you will work with production, shipping, and inventory teams to keep materials flowing efficiently and safely. The role is on third shift, Monday through Friday, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., with occasional overtime. Pay is $20.98 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations is a plus.
• Excellent attendance.
• Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to collaborate with different teams and identify discrepancies.
• Analytical and hands-on abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for at least 8 hours.
• Ability to read and comprehend manufacturing instructions.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.

• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment.
• Collaborate with production team members to facilitate product and material flow and achieve critical line metrics.
• Assist the plant in various areas.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and department and uphold 5S standards.
• Document quantities loaded or unloaded accurately.
• Complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Inspect material-handling equipment daily.
