About The Position

Sonoco is hiring a Material Handler I at its Hartselle Wood Reels facility. Reporting to the Team Lead, the Material Handler supports the movement and organization of raw materials and finished wood reels throughout the facility, working with production, shipping, and inventory teams to ensure materials are delivered efficiently and safely. The listed pay rate is $21.58 per hour, plus a $1.50 shift differential. The schedule is third shift, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with some overtime.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior material-handling or warehouse operations experience is a plus.
• Excellent attendance.
• A proven record of success in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to collaborate with different teams and identify discrepancies.
• Analytical and hands-on abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for at least 8 hours.
• Ability to read and comprehend manufacturing instructions.
• Must work overtime when necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment.
• Work with production team members to facilitate product and material flow and meet critical line metrics.
• Assist the plant in various areas.
• Maintain work-area and department cleanliness and 5S standards.
• Accurately document quantities loaded or unloaded.
• Perform tasks safely and efficiently.
• Inspect material-handling equipment daily.
