Material Handler - Maple Grove, MN
About The Position
Xcel Energy anticipates hiring one or more Material Handlers at its Maple Grove Service Center in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The role is responsible for receiving, storing, filling, staging, tracking, delivering, and shipping materials, as well as processing material returns and maintaining clean work areas. It uses computer applications and software and requires safe operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment, with consistent attention to safety and compliance. The stated starting pay is $28.91 per hour, and the working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The posting is scheduled to be open from October 22 through October 28, 2026.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Forklift operator certification is preferred; experience and computer skills are required.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, work indoors and outdoors in dusty environments, and be in good physical condition.
- Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet as necessary.
- Ability to work extended hours and respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.
Nice To Haves
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL), preferably Class A; or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
- SAP experience.
- Warehouse experience.
- Knowledge of electric and gas materials.
- Forklift operator certification.
Responsibilities
- Unload carrier trucks and receive stock and non-stock materials.
- Put materials away in assigned and random locations.
- Physically fill material orders for field operations.
- Stage and track materials in a database.
- Load and unload material delivery trucks and process required shipping paperwork.
- Process credits for materials returned from the field.
- Maintain clean work areas as necessary.
- Use various computer applications and software.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Follow company safety rules and compliance requirements.
- Work extended hours and respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.
