About The Position

PVS Metals (Owen Industries) is hiring a Material Handler for its second-shift team in Carter Lake, Iowa. This active, hands-on role supports production flow by administering shipping and receiving documentation and planning and scheduling deliveries. The position works Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, with Fridays off and mornings free. Pay is $19–$21 per hour depending on experience, plus a $2 per-hour shift differential, for an effective rate of $21–$23 per hour. The Material Handler works with Sales, production teams, drivers, and vendors to keep shipping and receiving operations accurate and efficient. The role requires frequent lifting and movement of items over 75 pounds and work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and moving mechanical parts. Benefits begin on the first day of the month after 30 days of employment.

Requirements

Experience in shipping, receiving, material handling, or logistics in a manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational and administrative skills, including accurate documentation.
Computer proficiency, including entering and managing data.
Ability to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds frequently throughout the shift.
Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb throughout the shift.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and moving mechanical parts.
Strong communication skills for regular interaction with Sales, production, and drivers.
Reliability, responsibility, teamwork, problem-solving, ownership, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

Administer shipping and receiving documentation accurately and on time.
Plan and schedule delivery sequences based on truck capacity and customer priorities.
Communicate schedule and delivery sequence changes to the Sales Department in a timely manner.
Track and report on-time delivery performance data to support continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards, DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and company procedures.
Assist with developing and training other crew members.
Represent PVS Metals professionally and in a friendly manner when interacting with drivers, vendors, and internal teams.
Support Continuous Improvement Programs and other company initiatives.
Promote strong team spirit within and across departments.
