About The Position

The Material Handler handles and stores materials for all departments and performs housekeeping activities in the warehouse and dock area. The role operates material-handling equipment, including fork trucks, and changes fork truck batteries. Duties may also include cross-functional work in shipping, receiving, label-making, and inventory. The position provides materials to production, moves and stores product according to the KanBan system, weighs and labels product, and shrink-wraps finished parts. The role typically does not require travel. The employee must agree to complete all required post-hire training.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a forklift license in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
• Minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment.
• Ability to walk for an eight-hour work shift.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform repeated bending and lifting during the work shift.
• Ability to wear steel-toe footwear.
• Adequate visual acuity to qualify for a forklift license.
• Ability to operate a pallet jack for product movement.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs for material changes.
• Agreement to complete all required post-hire training.

Responsibilities

• Provide necessary product and material to production departments as needed.
• Weigh and label product as needed.
• Return product to proper storage locations per the KanBan system.
• Shrink-wrap finished parts and place them in the proper storage location.
• Remove KanBans from empty purchased product containers and place them on the proper KanBan board.
• Cross-train in other warehouse functions and perform those functions when necessary.
• Perform housekeeping activities for the warehouse and dock area.
• Operate material-handling equipment and fork trucks, and change fork truck batteries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
