About The Position

Russel Metals is a North American metals distribution company operating metals service centers, energy field stores, and steel distributor businesses. The Crane Operator / Material Handler – Plate role is responsible for safe material handling, workplace safety procedures, quality inspections, and compliance with industry regulations and company ISO standards. The position handles plate material through crane operation, shipping and receiving, storage, and support for processing activities, while helping ensure products meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform daily pre-shift and other required inspections on cranes.
Locate material as allocated on work orders and verify that it meets order requirements.
Complete AS IS orders as required.
Operate a dual-hoist crane.
Complete all necessary documents and forms.
Load and unload trucks using an overhead crane.
Perform shipping and receiving inspections.
Stack plate safely in designated storage areas.
Work with the burner operator to remove scrap from the table and finished parts from the table.
Assist with cleaning and packaging functions as needed.
Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Maintain safe, clean, and orderly work areas and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Initiate action to prevent non-conformities relating to products, processes, and the Quality/Environmental Management System.
Identify and record problems relating to products, processes, and the Quality/Environmental Management System.
Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels and verify their implementation.
Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition is corrected.
