About The Position

This role is responsible for various material handling tasks, including checking vendor accuracy, creating bill of ladings (BOLs), validating cargo for damage, ensuring correct labeling, performing quality checklists, and signing off on load accuracy, kitting, and sub-assembly. The position also involves handling hazardous materials, packing, checking MSDS, and filling client orders safely and efficiently according to Crane SOPs. The Material Handler III ensures distribution activities comply with internal quality standards and maintain a safe work environment. They read and follow work orders, operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment, and load/unload materials. This role also includes counting, weighing, and recording material movement, attaching identification tags, scanning freight using a warehouse management system with RF equipment, and completing required paperwork. Housekeeping and accurate loading of client merchandise are also key functions. This position requires on-site presence, participation in the Safety Committee, training others, and knowledge of all accounts and branch floor functions.

Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

  • Greater than three years’ of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check for vendor accuracy and create bill of ladings (BOLs).
  • Validate no damage to the cargo, ensure correct labeling, perform quality checklist, and sign off on load accuracy, kitting, and sub-assembly.
  • Handle hazardous materials, packing, checking MSDS and other required paperwork.
  • Fill client orders safely, efficiently, and within Crane SOPs.
  • Ensure distribution activities are conducted in accordance with internal quality standards while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Read and follow work orders, and follow instructions to ascertain materials or container loads to be moved.
  • Operate a forklift or other drivable warehouse equipment including but not limited to high reach vehicle or similar.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift, or other warehouse equipment.
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials.
  • Scan freight via warehouse management system with RF equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork thoroughly and promptly.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Accurately and courteously load client merchandise.
  • Must be a member of the Safety Committee at least once during the year.
  • Must be a trainer and exhibit competency in training others.
  • Must know all accounts and be able to perform every floor function in the branch.
  • Other duties as assigned.
