About The Position

The Material Handler III supports production and warehouse operations by managing the flow, storage, and movement of raw materials and finished goods. The role pulls and delivers production materials, stages and prepares finished goods for shipment, receives and inspects incoming items, and maintains accurate warehouse files and shipping paperwork. It also operates material-moving equipment and helps keep warehouse and loading-dock areas orderly and safe. The position works with supervisors and the Shipping and Receiving Manager to coordinate department activities and maintain required output levels. It follows Lighthouse Louisiana’s ISO quality-system procedures and safety policies, reports hazards and incidents, and contributes to improving material-handling and production processes. Other duties may be assigned to support effective department operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Able to read, write clearly, and accurately measure and count materials.
Strong organizational ability and attention to detail.
Ability to work with little to no supervision.
Previous forklift operation experience required.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and basic internet use.
One year of shipping and receiving experience required.
Warehouse experience required.
Dependable, motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and people-oriented.
Able to bend, stoop, climb, stand, and walk regularly.
Able to lift 60 pounds and maneuver 500 pounds throughout the day.
Able to travel throughout the facility to perform work responsibilities, take breaks, and evacuate during emergencies, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to manage self-care needs and activities of daily living required to support successful employment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Satisfactory background check and drug-testing results are required for employment.

Nice To Haves

Paper Clamp forklift operation experience.
Previous experience with ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

Pull and deliver raw materials to assigned departments in an organized, safe, and consistent manner, ensuring stock rotation and preservation and security of materials.
Pull and stage finished goods for shipment, label them appropriately, and load trucks as needed.
Operate material-moving equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, as required.
Palletize and label finished products as assigned.
Prepare unused production materials for storage and return them to the warehouse when applicable.
Continuously seek improvements to the efficiency of material-handling systems and production activities.
Maintain proper housekeeping in the warehouse and loading dock.
Perform duties in compliance with Lighthouse Louisiana’s ISO Quality system procedures.
Conduct business in a positive, relationship-building manner to support integration with production, material management, and accounting processes.
Maintain output levels specified by the supervisor.
Receive incoming products, materials, and items; inspect for damage and verify items and quantities against packing slips and purchase orders.
Secure received and existing materials in an organized, safe, and consistent manner, providing for proper stock rotation.
Maintain neat and orderly files related to warehouse activities.
Assist the Shipping and Receiving Manager with daily duties and support warehouse operations when the manager is absent.
Prepare shipping paperwork and labels, and route trucks as needed.
Coordinate activities with the supervisor and work within the department’s product flow.
Follow Lighthouse safety policies and practices, and immediately report injuries, accidents, near misses, emergencies, and safety hazards.
Ensure finished goods are stored securely and report defective or damaged finished goods to the Shipping and Receiving Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned.
