About The Position

The Material Handler II performs routine tasks involving the movement of hazardous and non-hazardous solid and liquid waste, with little supervision. Work may include manual labor in cleaning and decontamination operations, vacuum projects, handling and packing materials, and loading or unloading containers for processing at the site or transportation to appropriate facilities.

Requirements

Ability to communicate through reading and writing.
Trained in the use of material-handling equipment.
Forklift certification.
Yard truck certification.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
10 to 12 months of prior experience in a related position in the hazardous waste or chemical industry, with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools.
40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Responsibilities

Load and unload containers of various sizes, including totes, drums, tankers, and trailers.
Construct boxes or fiber containers; stack, label, and load containers.
Use tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, and jackhammers.
Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.
Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
Complete paperwork required to process materials, including paperwork for transportation between locations.
Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Inspect material-handling equipment as directed.
Load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites using appropriate equipment for which the employee is trained.
Perform other duties as assigned.
