Material Handler I (6:00AM to 6:30PM 12-Hr Shifts)
About The Position
The Material Handler I accurately handles inbound, stored, and outbound products for a wide range of clients. The role checks loads in and out and verifies products against bills of lading and shipping documents. It involves moving and handling food products and other materials, processing shipping and receiving information, picking orders, monitoring inventory, and helping maintain a clean, organized warehouse while following safety and food safety policies and procedures. The position reports to the Warehouse Manager and is classified as non-exempt. The schedule is a consistent 6:00 AM–6:30 PM day shift on a bi-weekly rotation: Week 1 consists of two days on, two days off, and three days on (48 hours); Week 2 consists of two days off, two days on, and three days off (36 hours). Hours over 40 in a week are paid at 1.5 times the base rate. This is a safety-sensitive position. Requirements
- One year of warehouse experience.
- Forklift experience.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong mathematical abilities.
- Able to lift 50–75 pounds at a time.
- Able to sit for prolonged periods on a forklift in cold and extreme cold conditions.
Responsibilities
- Move, load, and unload food products, materials, and packages by hand, pallet jack, or forklift from trains, railcars, and trailers.
- Handle paperwork and use scanners to accurately ship and receive clients’ food products.
- Pick orders, select products, and control inventory as needed.
- Transfer data manually and electronically to coworkers and the Inventory Control Team.
- Monitor warehouse inventory through cycle counts.
- Help maintain a clean and organized warehouse by performing assigned sanitation duties.
- Follow safety and food safety policies and procedures.
- Check loads in and out and verify products on bills of lading and shipping documents.
