Material Handler/Forklift Operator

About The Position

BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to work at a distribution center as part of a team focused on safety and quality service. The role involves handling building materials, preparing shipping and distribution paperwork, inspecting and maintaining equipment, keeping the work area clean, and assisting with inventory counts. The schedule is Monday through Friday. Compensation is a fixed hourly rate, no less than the local minimum wage; actual compensation depends on experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.

Requirements

One year or recent forklift or warehouse experience.
Ability to safely and proficiently use a forklift to transport products and load and unload trucks.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

Operate a forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and/or bulk materials.
Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work and assigned areas.
Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
