About The Position

BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to work at its distribution center. The role involves safely operating a forklift to handle building materials and supporting storage, shipping, inventory, and facility upkeep. The position offers a fixed wage of $18.08 per hour and a Monday–Friday schedule. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations, and will be no less than the local minimum wage.

Requirements

• One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely operate a forklift to transport products and load or unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times and under pressure.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and bulk items.
• Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned area.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
