Material Handler / Forklift Operator
About The Position
We are seeking dependable, motivated, and experienced Material Handlers / Forklift Operators to join the warehouse team in Hauppauge, NY. This hands-on role works across multiple areas of warehouse operations, handling materials safely and efficiently and supporting daily activities. The position involves loading and unloading trucks, picking and putting away inventory, sorting and repacking orders, and operating material-handling equipment. Candidates with experience operating both sit-down forklifts and stand-up lifts/reach trucks are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate can contribute immediately, work independently when needed, and maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and productivity. This is a full-time position paying from $18.00 per hour, with higher pay based on relevant warehouse experience, forklift skills, equipment proficiency, and overall qualifications. The role offers work across multiple warehouse functions in a team-oriented environment that values reliability, safety, and productivity.
Requirements
- Previous warehouse or material-handling experience is preferred.
- Forklift experience is strongly preferred, particularly with sit-down forklifts and stand-up lifts/reach trucks.
- Experience operating electric and manual pallet jacks.
- Ability to safely load, unload, move, and organize merchandise and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Dependable and punctual, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and handle physical job requirements, including lifting, standing, walking, and moving materials throughout the shift.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment operation.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required for warehouse operations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move materials throughout the work shift.
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating both sit-down forklifts and stand-up lifts/reach trucks.
- Strong experience with sit-down forklifts, stand-up lifts/reach trucks, and electric pallet jacks.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks safely and efficiently.
- Receive, sort, separate, and organize incoming merchandise and materials.
- Pick, pack, repack, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Put away inventory and maintain accurate product locations.
- Operate manual and electric pallet jacks to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Operate sit-down forklifts and stand-up lifts/reach trucks to move, stage, and store inventory, as qualified.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, and general warehouse operations.
- Verify product quantities, labels, and order accuracy.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Perform other warehouse duties as needed to support daily operations.
