Material Flow Technician (Starship)

SpaceX•Starbase, TX, TX

About The Position

Material Flow Technicians establish physical processes and system configurations that support new production cells, materials layouts, and continuous improvement. They apply material-flow principles to lineside presentation, dense storage solutions, efficient material-movement carts and racks, and packaging standards. The role implements material-flow engineering designs, supports new process and cell projects, helps maintain inventory accuracy, and provides operational support to Materials Management as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting process or operational improvement in an industrial environment.
  • Available to work at least one listed shift: first shift, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or third shift, 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Available for overtime, all shifts, and weekend work as operational needs vary; flexibility is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of 8 or more hours.
  • Ability to safely work at heights up to 500 feet, in confined spaces, and while using an air-purifying respirator.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical requirements of the job.
  • Must meet SpaceX ITAR eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
  • SQL and Tableau experience.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • APICS or other supply-chain certification.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Set up material-flow processes and part presentation for new build cells according to material-flow standards and engineering designs, including physical infrastructure and system configuration.
  • Implement material-flow engineering designs, including layouts, racking and floor locations, part labeling, material-movement carts, and small-part placement in gravity-flow racking.
  • Own small-part flow setup, including locations, space-efficient packaging, and min/max levels consistent with supply-chain strategy.
  • Provide input on packaging and part-flow designs to maximize part density and efficient handling while maintaining part quality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Materials Management processes.
  • Support project management for new processes and cell implementation by contributing to timelines, creating bills of materials, and managing storage and delivery of project materials.
  • Provide surge support to Materials Management operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, shipping, and lineside production support.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy for production materials through timely transactions and cycle counting.
  • Maintain tools and supplies used for process improvement, including mobile equipment and hand tools.
  • Ensure obsolete or orphaned material resulting from new process or cell implementation is fully dispositioned.
  • Maintain current certifications for relevant Materials Management equipment and processes.
  • Provide leaders and engineers with input on potential safety hazards when setting up new processes and locations.
