About The Position

The Material Coordinator is responsible for the accuracy of inventory of products, materials, and raw ingredients. They will ensure that physical inventory matches system inventory and will be key in identifying and reviewing inventory discrepancies. This role works closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure the inventory of high dollar items as well as materials that are consumed quickly are monitored closely. The Material Coordinator will notify the Purchasing Manager and Warehouse Manager of any inventory discrepancies and work with the Production Department to ensure that raw materials are being properly consumed in Work Orders, following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles. They will investigate and find the root cause when inventory issues are found.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 years’ relevant shipping and receiving work experience required.
  • 1-2 years’ inventory experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience operating Forklift / Industrial Equipment.
  • 1-2 years’ experience using the company’s ERP system and/ or choice of software.
  • Fluent in English preferred.
  • Proficient communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic excel skills.
  • Proficient analytical skills.
  • High detail orientation.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to work in a group.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that physical inventory matches system inventory.
  • Identify and review inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory of high dollar items and quickly consumed materials.
  • Notify the Purchasing Manager and Warehouse Manager of any inventory discrepancies.
  • Work with the Production Department to ensure raw materials are properly consumed in Work Orders.
  • Ensure raw materials are consumed by FIFO.
  • Investigate and find root cause when inventory issues are found.
  • Perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
  • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
  • Accurately report production totals in the system and for transferring finished product to designated locations in the warehouse.
  • Print and apply pallet tags to ALL manufactured product.
  • Verify and report accuracy of TGI and inventory control reports (LITS – Lots Inventory Tracking System).
  • Complete and submit daily raw product and finished product inventories needed for production.
  • Supply the production department with raw and packaging materials.
  • Log raw materials into the LITS.
  • Return leftover materials to the designated place in the warehouse.
  • Report RF gun and label printer issues to the IT Department.
  • Maintain raw and finished product organized and inventory ready, ensuring raw and finished product can be pulled using FIFO.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Lead.
  • Ensure warehouse storage racks and pallet area are kept clean and organized, including coolers and freezers.
  • Remove cobwebs and chipping paint from walls and ceilings.
  • Actively demonstrate an attitude of willing service and teamwork.
  • Follow and comply with all SQF requirements.
  • Maintain workstations per SQF guidelines.
  • Ensure the Corn Return Area and Flour Return Area are maintained clear of ingredients both physically and in the system.
  • Remove broken pallets from the Production area.
  • Verify incoming materials meet Internal Specifications (weight, thickness, color).
  • Perform Daily Cycle Counts of raw materials (1-3 different items daily).
  • Other duties as assigned.
