About The Position

Portland Tugboat is seeking a Mate to assist the Master with the safe and efficient operation of the Tug. The Mate will safely manage all towing operations and deck evolutions, navigate the vessel, and conduct docking/undocking evolutions. This role serves as the First Line Supervisor for members of the Deck Department and assists the Master with maintaining the well-being of the crew.

Requirements

• Mate 200 Gross Tons (minimum) Towing/Oceans
• Mate or Master of Towing
• Current GMDSS, ARPA, Advanced Firefighting, First Aid/CPR
• Valid STCW, TWIC and Current USCG Medical Certificate
• Tractor tug/Z drive experience
• Must pass pre-employment drug test
• Must pass pre-employment physical

Nice To Haves

• Several years as an Able-Bodied Seaman/Ordinary Seaman
• 1600 Gross Ton Towing/Oceans
