Youth Villages offers paid internship opportunities for master's students in select residential and community-based programs. Placements are determined during the interview process based on availability, academic requirements, and the applicant’s experience. Youth Villages works with interns and their academic programs to design placements that meet practicum needs and class schedules and support course credit. Internships are offered nationwide during the fall and spring semesters; select Tennessee locations also offer summer internships. Offers are extended on a rolling basis, and spots are limited. The Master's Level Intern shadows counselors during home- and community-based family sessions, carries a reduced caseload, implements interventions, and facilitates individual, group, and/or family therapy. Interns use evidence-based practices, attend weekly professional-development and clinical meetings, access clinical training, provide transportation as needed, and complete timely documentation in an electronic medical record system. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. Applicants must be actively pursuing a master's degree in a social services discipline. A current valid driver's license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance are required. Community-based staff are reimbursed for applicable mileage.
