Youth Villages offers a paid master's-level internship in select residential and community-based programs. Placement is determined during the interview process based on availability, academic requirements, and the intern's experience. Youth Villages collaborates with interns and their academic programs to design placements that meet practicum needs and class schedules and allow students to obtain course credit. The internship also offers professional experience beyond academic requirements. Internships are offered nationwide during fall and spring semesters; select Tennessee locations offer summer internships. Positions are limited and offers are extended on a rolling basis. The intern shadows counselors during home- and community-based family sessions, carries a reduced caseload, implements interventions, and facilitates individual, group, and/or family therapy using evidence-based practices. Interns attend weekly individual, team, and clinical consultation meetings, access clinical trainings, provide transportation as needed, and complete accurate, timely documentation in an electronic medical record system. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. Applicants must have a current, valid driver's license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance. Community-based staff are reimbursed for applicable mileage.
