About The Position

The Massage Therapist Lead provides professional, personalized massage services to promote clients’ relaxation, stress relief, health, and wellness. The role requires proficiency in a variety of massage techniques and a commitment to exceptional guest experiences in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The lead may help oversee massage therapists at the location and may assist with managerial tasks such as scheduling, coaching, and training.

The position is based in a spa, clinic, or wellness center and may involve exposure to oils, lotions, and low lighting. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required depending on client scheduling. The role is non-exempt. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited massage therapy program.
• Valid state massage therapy license and/or certification.
• Proficiency in a range of massage techniques and therapies.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to assess client needs and customize services accordingly.
• Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical work, including bending, lifting, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of hands-on experience is preferred; recent graduates may be considered depending on the role and training.

Responsibilities

• Perform massage techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage, selecting modalities based on client needs and preferences.
• Conduct client consultations to understand wellness goals and tailor treatments.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and treatment rooms in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Keep accurate records of services and client preferences for future visits.
• Maintain a professional and courteous manner to create a relaxing and respectful environment.
• Recommend additional treatments or wellness products based on client needs.
• Follow appointment schedules and manage time effectively to avoid delays.
• Stay current with industry trends, continuing education, and licensure requirements.
• Follow facility policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
• Help oversee massage therapists at the location and, as requested, assist with scheduling, coaching, and training.
