About The Position

Campus Enterprises is NC State University’s division of retail and hospitality organizations. This role provides vital support to Campus Enterprises and NC State Dining by providing an excellent dining experience for all guests. The position offers compensation of $14.00/hr (Tier 4) with potential for longevity raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises. Dining and Catering employees also earn free meals and are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus of up to $200. This role is available at Bragaw, Wolf Village, Centennial Market, and Talley Market locations.

Requirements

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Willingness to handle and serve all types of food (including meat products)
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and follow both written and verbal instructions and recipes to efficiently and accurately assemble menu items
  • Ability to work with a team and effectively communicate
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Prior retail experience
  • Must attend mandatory student employee orientation and training sessions

Responsibilities

  • Delegate tasks and coordinate among a small team of assistant managers and employees to manage one or more areas of operation
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and scheduling student teams
  • Solve problems and communicate with other staff, managers, or vendors as needed to assure excellent service and food quality and safety
  • Manage midday, night, or weekend store operations of campus Cafes/Markets including register management and opening/closing procedures
  • Train student employees, including Cashiers, Lead Cashiers, and Assistant Student Managers
  • Prepare quality items, such as milkshakes, waffle cones, coffee and tea
  • Restock beverages and merchandise
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures
  • Clean work areas (kitchen production area, customer service area, dining room, lobbies, and restrooms)
  • Wash dishes, glassware, equipment, and serving utensils
  • Adhere to all recipe, production and presentation standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control while following all health, safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service and provide excellent customer service
  • Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to the supervisor
  • Operate micros system (point of sale) and accurately process transactions in adherence with university policy
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and guests
  • Help to maintain temperature and sanitation to ensure food safety and assist units in maintaining a Grade A sanitation of 95% or better
  • Special projects as assigned by full-time staff
  • Other duties as assigned
