The Segment Manager is responsible to develop, articulate, and drive market segment strategy with the goal of improving revenue and profitability. They will work closely with other functional and BU areas (Sales, Pricing, Marketing Product Management, Marcomms, Operations and R&D) to drive strategy and align across organization on key priorities and respective segments. Working with these other functions, the Segment Manager will develop and manage the Lead Generation and Qualification processes, they will identify product portfolio gaps and go-to-market strategies and then execute on plans to achieve growth targets. This role may also leverage Amcor’s successes achieved in other Amcor businesses, as well as Global Business Group projects, and other innovation platforms to help establish Amcor as a market leader in chosen segments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and Experience Minimum 5 years marketing, sales, or product management experience
  • Able to monetize the value of novel packaging technologies for customers in creating a unique value proposition that is compelling for various stake holders within customer accounts
  • Strong grasp of marketing fundamentals including VOC, Strategy Development, Product Segmentation, & Product Management
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of economic and marketing principles
  • Healthcare market knowledge and exposure (desired)
  • Education Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred
  • Job Specific Technical Requirements Strong team leadership skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and global environment
  • Operates effectively with people at all levels of the organization with ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to drive execution of plans
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative solutions

Responsibilities

  • Market Segmentation, Positioning and Monitoring Understand competitive landscape and craft specific plans to compete.
  • Own and drive the multi-generational product innovation pipeline in accordance with market strategy.
  • Market segmentation, sizing, and analysis of areas of responsibility Customer segmentation Market segment trends, data analysis Identification of Segment and Customer white spaces Competitor assessments, monitoring
  • Collaborates with other functions to effectively execute our Value Plus agenda (Account Reviews, Negotiation prep and Pipeline management Coordinate and facilitate commercial efforts on Plant Profit teams Coordinate with BUs and Commercial Excellence on accurate segment, customer and end-use mapping and remapping when necessary
  • Leads Generation, B2B and B2C Insight Programs Leads initiatives to gain both B2C and B2B customer insights to help select and position new market segment entry marketing efforts including: Focus group activities Voice of Customer and Voice of Segment engagement studies AGOPs Set inbound marketing campaign strategies and assist in developing marketing content for social media, website, MEBOs, Value Props, etc. Develop and manage lead generation and lead qualification process to prepare qualified leads for Sales Collaboration with other Amcor BGs and BUs to create unique value propositions as ONE Amcor
  • Strategy, Market Entry, Product & Platform Launch Execution Works with Amcor leadership team on go-to-market strategies in chosen market segments to deliver compelling value propositions to the marketplace and secure new volumes within vertical market segments Collaborative ownership with R&D and Marketing Product Management of new segment products, platforms and MGPP roadmaps Cross BU and Global collaboration with Amcor marketing communities to identify pockets of growth Strategy Plans - leads cross-functional development Strategy plans associated with targeted market segment entry including Lead annual Strategic Plan development Market segment research, validation, and associated customer pilots Leading collaborative stage gate process for market entry and platform launch Works with select customers to create unique value-propositions specific to Amcor’s product offering and segment growth plans
