About The Position

Bully Pulpit International (BPI) is an outcomes agency comprised of strategists, data scientists, and artists with a global presence across six countries and thirteen offices. We specialize in strategic communications, public affairs, research, and digital marketing, creating customized strategies for both American and European clients. We are seeking a content-first strategist with a background in agency marketing, editorial, or hard news production to serve as the primary storyteller and strategic engine for the BPI brand. This role requires a genuine passion for our space, curiosity about the future of communications, and energy for the evolving political and corporate landscape. Reporting to the Managing Director of New Business and collaborating with senior leadership, you will drive a sophisticated editorial agenda across our podcast, social platforms, and research reports to establish BPI as an authoritative voice among global business and policy leaders. Your responsibilities will include managing industry and trade relationships, translating complex data and insights into compelling thought leadership, and productizing internal innovation into a market-facing brand narrative to fuel agency growth and open doors for new business. By managing our external profile with precision, you will help BPI establish itself as a world-class firm defining the future of global communications.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in an agency marketing role, a newsroom, or a production-heavy editorial environment.
  • Deep understanding of the professional services world.
  • Proven experience managing multi-channel content streams (e.g., podcasts, social, long-form reports) from ideation to execution.
  • Understanding of how to market expertise and distill technical data into narratives that resonate with C-suite and policy audiences.
  • Ability to sit with subject matter experts, digest complex geopolitical data or technical insights, and distill them into a compelling narrative.
  • Excellent writer and editor with the creative initiative to identify "the story" before others do.
  • Skilled at explaining complex ideas to broad audiences, making technical and data-driven work accessible and compelling to C-suite decision-makers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to pivot from long-term strategy to rapid-response opportunities without losing momentum.
  • Ability to see around the corner of industry trends and position BPI as a leader before the curve.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence at the senior leadership level.
  • Proven experience managing junior staff and external vendors to hit deadlines, maintain high quality, and foster a high-performing support environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary storyteller and strategic engine for the BPI brand.
  • Drive a sophisticated editorial agenda, including our podcast, social platforms, and research reports.
  • Manage industry and trade relationships, including awards and offering support.
  • Work directly with senior leaders and subject matter experts to translate complex data and insights into compelling thought leadership.
  • Productize internal innovation and expertise, transforming technical work into a market-facing brand narrative.
  • Ensure marketing efforts fuel the agency’s growth and open doors for New Business.
  • Manage the external profile with precision to help BPI establish itself as a world-class firm defining the future of global communications.
  • Architect a strategy and dive into the weeds to push projects across the finish line.
  • Drive the marketing strategy that identifies and brings to life the agency's big ideas.
  • Lead regular meetings with Partners and team leads to extract unique insights and architect strategies for compelling narratives.
  • Produce content, collaborating with senior leaders and subject matter experts to ideate, develop, and complete high-impact content aligned with New Business targets.
  • Direct the strategy and production of the BPI website, podcast, and other emerging multimedia formats.
  • Work in lockstep with the New Business team to ensure marketing efforts fuel agency growth.
  • Identify unique story angles that move BPI beyond the trade press.
  • Manage high-level press requests, initiate outreach to top-tier outlets, and prep senior colleagues for interviews, panels, and global conferences.
  • Amplify the external profiles of executive leadership by identifying high-value opportunities and prepping senior colleagues for high-stakes interviews, panels, and global conferences.
  • Oversee the vision, content, and execution for virtual and in-person events.
  • Strategically manage the awards calendar to recognize BPI's best work, people, and creative point of view.
  • Act as a marketing bridge for European markets to ensure a unified brand presence and coordinate a single, global editorial calendar.
  • Drive the marketing strategy and execution for major announcements (e.g., acquisitions, ELT-level hires, product rollouts).
  • Oversee routine website maintenance and direct high-level design overhauls and technical projects in partnership with an external dev agency.
