About The Position

The Greensboro Science Center’s (GSC) Marketing & Communications Assistant is a part-time position that reports to the Marketing Manager. This position assists with planning and implementing marketing, digital communications, and community engagement strategies to promote GSC attractions, events, and initiatives. Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills are required. This is a part-time, hourly position (approximately 25 hours per week) with the opportunity for growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience in a related field and/or the tourism, hospitality, or attractions industries
  • Design and/or photography best practices and Adobe Creative Cloud skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the GSC’s operations and brand
  • Assist with developing, distributing, and updating internal and external marketing and communications content across social media, email, website, calendars, and various advertising channels
  • Assist with managing the GSC’s social media platforms, including scheduling content and responding to comments, messages, and online reviews in a timely, brand-appropriate manner
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of marketing materials such as flyers, signage, and rack cards
  • Assist with media relations efforts, including coordinating requests, facilitating on-site media visits, providing tours, and supporting or participating in on-camera interviews
  • Support community outreach efforts through tabling events, local partnerships, and other promotional opportunities
  • Track and report on social media, email marketing, and other analytics
  • Research and maintain current knowledge of industry trends
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and a flexible, professional, and team-oriented outlook
  • Other duties as assigned
