About The Position

Hogan Lovells is seeking a Marketing and Business Development Manager for its Americas Financial Institutions Sector (FIS) and Insurance Sector. This role will focus on Fintech, Insurtech, Digital Assets and Blockchain (DAB), and support the Financial Services Regulation practice in the U.S. The position is responsible for delivering the Americas elements of the FIS and Insurance business plans, collaborating with the global M&BD team, and building strong global M&BD relationships. The role is based in the New York office.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of the New York and Washington, D.C. business and legal market, with particular knowledge of the Financial Institutions and Insurance sectors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.
  • Proactive approach to marketing and business development, planning, and execution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and (internal and external) client-facing skills.
  • A team player, but able to act autonomously with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Seven (7) + years of marketing and business development experience required.
  • BS or BA degree in marketing, communications, business development, or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop programs and targeting initiatives to build relationships with new and existing clients, identifying cross-selling opportunities for FIS and Insurance sectors.
  • Follow industry, practice, and regional trends to identify business opportunities and target new business.
  • Support the global pitch team, local practices, and FIS and Insurance sector M&BD team members in responding to RFPs, customized pitches, and business development presentations.
  • Prepare pitch teams for presentations and conduct post-pitch and client service reviews.
  • Promote pitching best practice through coaching and formal training.
  • Create and implement integrated marketing campaigns to raise internal and external profile and awareness.
  • Develop and execute cross-practice specific events, including flagship events for FIS and Insurance clients.
  • Build contact lists of FIS and Insurance clients, tailoring invitations and programs.
  • Track ROI and improvements to the event program.
  • Provide on-the-ground support to organize roadshows, client-facing events, client meetings, and internal meetings.
  • Develop and optimize relationships with relevant industry associations and organizations.
  • Implement efforts to raise the department’s profile and increase lawyers’ understanding of the team’s capabilities.
  • Ensure relevant Americas directory and award submissions are completed.
  • Develop marketing and business development plans and budgets for the FIS and Insurance sectors in the Americas.
  • Act as part of the global FIS and Insurance sectors M&BD team, attending regular meetings and maintaining visibility of the overall strategy.
  • Lead the U.S. investment bank client sector program initiative.
  • Manage client accounts for key FIS clients.
  • Work with the lateral recruiting department to integrate lateral partners and counsel.
  • Create regional FIS and Insurance-specific materials for business development and recruiting.
  • Oversee and contribute to wider M&BD projects as required.
