Avenue Z•Miami, FL
•$100,000 - $120,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Marketing AI Engineer builds and ships AI agents, automations, and reporting systems for paid media, creator and affiliate campaigns, CRO, and client reporting at Avenue Z. The role integrates with marketing platforms and commerce systems, including Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, Snap, Shopify, and affiliate and creator platforms. Examples of work include ad-launching and quality-assurance agents, budget pacing and reallocation systems, creative performance intelligence, anomaly detection, commission tracking, and reporting that connects creator content and ad spend to revenue, using Shopify as the source of truth. The role embeds with paid media, creator and affiliate, CRO, and ecommerce teams to audit workflows, identify lost throughput or margin, build solutions, and drive adoption. It establishes standards for designing, reviewing, documenting, and shipping agents and automations across service lines; provides technical leadership and mentorship to AI builders; prioritizes automation requests; and reports progress, blockers, and measured impact to the CTO and leadership. The position combines hands-on building with technical leadership, and emphasizes shipping practical systems quickly while preserving human judgment where brand, strategy, money, or client context requires it. The role is onsite in Miami or Orlando; candidates may relocate at their own expense.

Requirements

  • Growth marketing background, including personally running paid media on at least one of Instagram and Facebook, Google, or TikTok.
  • Understanding of campaign structure, pixels and events, attribution windows, creative testing, and marketing performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with the Meta Marketing API and TikTok Business or TikTok Shop APIs, plus other marketing platform APIs such as Google Ads, Shopify, Klaviyo, and affiliate or creator platforms; must have built real integrations.
  • Current, hands-on knowledge of the digital marketing industry, including agency and brand operations, manual workflows, and client needs.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, and working knowledge of version control, code review, environment and secrets management, testing, and documentation.
  • Experience leading people who build, such as as a principal engineer, founder, lead engineer, technical team lead, or leader of product managers, including setting and enforcing a quality bar.
  • Experience building AI agents and automations for production, including prompts, tool use, approval gates, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Ability to use an appropriate technical stack, such as Python or TypeScript, agent frameworks, or workflow platforms such as n8n or Make.
  • Portfolio of projects or code repositories to discuss.
  • Based in Miami or Orlando, or willing to relocate there at own expense.
  • Available to work onsite.
  • Moves and learns quickly; thinks in systems and treats ambiguity as an opportunity to build.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to distinguish business-value systems from impressive demos.
  • High agency and willingness to identify problems without waiting to be assigned.
  • Good judgment about what to automate and what should remain human.
  • Able to communicate effectively with both media buyers and technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an ecommerce or performance marketing agency, or on a DTC brand growth team.
  • TikTok Shop, creator and affiliate marketing, or influencer campaign experience.
  • Data experience with SQL, BigQuery or a similar warehouse, and Looker Studio or similar BI tools.
  • Shopify app or Shopify API experience.
  • Experience building and selling, launching, or running something independently.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate with Meta Marketing, TikTok Business and TikTok Shop, Google Ads, Snap, Shopify, and affiliate and creator platform APIs, handling OAuth, token refresh, rate limits, webhooks, and partnership-access flows.
  • Build agents and automations for ad launching and QA, budget pacing and reallocation, creative tagging and performance intelligence, anomaly detection, and cross-platform commission tracking.
  • Build reporting that connects creator content, advertising spend, and attributed revenue, cross-referenced against Shopify as the source of truth.
  • Embed with paid media, creator and affiliate, CRO, and ecommerce teams to audit workflows and identify processes that should be automated.
  • Turn manual processes into working systems quickly, defining where human approval is needed and where a system can act autonomously.
  • Drive adoption by training teams, gathering feedback, and iterating on shipped systems.
  • Provide technical leadership on the product roadmap and build production-ready solutions.
  • Set and enforce standards for agent and automation design, review, documentation, and delivery through code and design reviews.
  • Review, mentor, and unblock engineers and builders working on AI automation across PR, SEO and AEO, organic social, and ecommerce; take ownership of their work outcomes.
  • Manage intake and prioritization of automation requests based on revenue impact, time saved, and client retention.
  • Report progress, blockers, and measured impact to the CTO and present to leadership.
  • Develop new business capabilities, such as autonomous media buying, creative-to-landing-page pipelines, and creator performance ranking.
  • Personally build and ship systems while raising the quality bar for other builders.
