Marketing AI & Automation Manager

SecureSpace Management•Redondo Beach, CA

About The Position

The Marketing AI & Automation Manager analyzes and improves business processes across SecureSpace Self Storage by designing, implementing, and governing AI-enabled workflows and integrated systems. This individual-contributor role has no direct reports and works under general supervision, exercising independent judgment to select technical approaches, establish workflow controls, and resolve complex process and integration issues within approved platforms, policies, and budgets. The manager advises marketing leadership and business owners on automation opportunities that can improve operating efficiency, data quality, and decision-making. The role evaluates needs, defines requirements, compares alternatives, and recommends priorities based on business impact, cost, feasibility, and risk. It owns the design and delivery of cross-team workflows for content operations, reputation management, campaign tracking, reporting, and internal processes. Marketing leadership retains responsibility for strategy, budget approval, and final business priorities; the manager determines how approved objectives are achieved without step-by-step direction. The role also owns testing, rollout, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of AI and automation systems within its scope. It documents system designs and operating procedures, trains users, evaluates adoption and performance, and recommends improvements or retirement when systems do not deliver sufficient value. The manager must use approved tools and systems, follow company security and privacy policies and applicable laws, and ensure appropriate human review and business-owner approval for sensitive actions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience independently analyzing business processes and designing, deploying, and maintaining live automation systems in marketing operations, business operations, technology, or a related setting.
  • Hands-on proficiency with at least one workflow platform such as n8n, Make, or Zapier, including branching logic, schedules, retries, and error handling.
  • Experience using generative AI tools, model APIs, or AI agents within repeatable workflows, including structured outputs, quality checks, human review, and cost controls.
  • Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs and webhooks, including API-key and OAuth authentication, secure credential handling, JSON payloads, field mapping, rate limits, and debugging failed requests.
  • Working knowledge of a scripting language such as JavaScript or Python to build custom logic, transform data, and extend integrations beyond no-code tools.
  • Strong spreadsheet and data-validation skills, including the ability to reconcile metrics across systems and explain data-quality or reporting limitations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to define ambiguous requirements, evaluate alternatives, and make sound technical and process decisions under general supervision.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document processes and train nontechnical users.
  • Ability to advise nontechnical stakeholders, recommend priorities based on business impact, exercise independent judgment within approved policies and budgets, and handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer and using digital systems.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours may be needed to resolve critical workflow failures; routine after-hours coverage is not expected.

Nice To Haves

  • Google Apps Script experience is a plus.
  • Experience with CRM or CMS systems, reputation-management tools, Google Workspace, Wrike, dashboards, SQL, or version control such as Git is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SEO and digital marketing concepts is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate cross-functional processes, identify root causes of inefficiency, and recommend whether to redesign, automate, retain, or discontinue workflows based on operational impact, risk, and cost.
  • Define business and technical requirements with stakeholders and select workflow architecture, data structures, integration methods, and tools within approved platforms and budgets; document trade-offs when recommending new platforms or expenditures.
  • Design and implement content-production systems with the SEO Manager and other business owners, including workflow stages, validation rules, human-review controls, publishing safeguards, and performance measures.
  • Design reputation-management systems for review intake, categorization, escalation, response approval, and follow-up, with controls that support responsiveness and compliant human decision-making.
  • Evaluate and redesign internal processes such as print-material requests, purchasing approvals, fulfillment handoffs, task routing, and recurring reporting; determine automation logic and exception controls within established policies.
  • Advise campaign and partnership owners on scalable execution and measurement approaches, and design ownership, handoff, tracking, and reporting frameworks for approved initiatives without owning marketing strategy.
  • Determine alert logic and investigation criteria for ranking changes, lead trends, reputation issues, and system failures; evaluate false positives and business impact and recommend corrective priorities to responsible business owners.
  • Design and implement integrations among CRM, call-tracking, content, reporting, and project-management systems, including field mappings, data-validation rules, location identifiers, campaign tags, and reconciliation controls.
  • Analyze data-quality and measurement gaps affecting calls, inquiries, reservations, move-ins, and revenue reporting; recommend improvements and explain attribution limitations.
  • Test, roll out, monitor, and improve AI and automation systems; independently diagnose failures, determine recovery and corrective actions, and pause or roll back unsafe workflows within established incident procedures; escalate material security, compliance, budget, or business-policy issues.
  • Establish solution-level access, credential, logging, and human-approval controls consistent with company policy; assess implementation risks and recommend safeguards before deployment.
  • Maintain a prioritized automation roadmap for leadership review, document design decisions and operating procedures, train users, and evaluate adoption, net time savings, reliability, turnaround time, and ongoing costs.
  • Establish and apply workflow-design, documentation, testing, and change-management standards for systems within the role's scope, consistent with company IT policies and leadership-approved standards; review relevant requests and changes before deployment.
  • Use only company-approved automation platforms, AI tools, and integrations, and process customer and employee data only in approved systems in accordance with company policies and applicable privacy laws.
  • Store credentials only in approved secure systems; do not use personal accounts, share credentials, or embed passwords, API keys, or tokens in workflows or documents.
  • Do not create, write, solicit, or post reviews on behalf of customers or employees, and do not suppress, filter, or selectively request reviews based on expected sentiment.
  • Ensure automated customer communications, including texts, calls, and emails, comply with applicable consent, opt-out, and communication laws.
  • Clearly identify AI-generated content for human review before publishing, customer response, or other external use.
  • Plan deployment and maintenance activities with affected teams and determine technical sequence, testing approach, and recovery procedures within approved project objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging AI and automation capabilities and advise leadership on practical adoption based on comparative benefits, cost, reliability, and risk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain documented escalation and manual-fallback procedures so issues arising outside business hours can be handled without disruption.
