About The Position

The overall purpose of this position is to support the IEEE Communications Society’s (ComSoc) Marketing team. The incumbent is expected to have strong organizational skills, be able to meet tight deadlines, and work independently. A positive attitude and professional demeanor are critical to this role as there is frequent interaction with volunteers, members, ComSoc office staff, and other IEEE organizations. The role reports to the Director of Marketing & Membership and does not manage any direct reports.

Requirements

  • College degree in marketing, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • 2-3 years working in an office environment, with previous marketing experience.
  • Prior office experience required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google programs, including Gmail and Google Drive and virtual meeting platforms including Zoom and WebEx
  • Knowledge of CRM systems like Hubspot or Salesforce, social media platforms like Sprout Social, email platforms like Marketo, Knak, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
  • High quality standards, including high degree of accuracy in communications and record keeping.
  • Positive, customer-focused attitude in dealing with a variety of volunteers and members.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and oral) and strong organizational skills.
  • Copywriting for email and social media
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and track and report status of each
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Helpful attitude to anticipate and address administrative issues
  • Strong time management skills to balance demands and meet schedules
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential material
  • Understanding of working in a global business environment

  • Foundational understanding of technical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative and coordination support of day-to-day marketing functions including communication calendar updates and reporting, email setup, organic and paid social media posting, and data reports as requested by the team.
  • Support of social media content development and scheduling
  • Coordination and assistance with website updates
  • Interaction with stakeholders to coordinate marketing content for promotional use
  • Other administrative support for the marketing team as assigned.
