Market Facing Underwriting Trainee - Overland Park - Summer 2027
About The Position
Zurich North America is accepting applications for its 2027 Market Facing Underwriting Training Program in Overland Park, Kansas. The program is designed for people who enjoy building relationships and bring an analytical mindset. Through hands-on training and expert guidance, trainees develop the skills to assess complex risks for large and multinational organizations, negotiate coverage, evaluate exposures, and determine pricing and terms. The program includes structured, cohort-based onboarding with virtual learning, in-person sessions, and networking. Trainees receive job shadowing, mentorship, and real-time coaching, and gain exposure to live underwriting work such as analyzing financials, evaluating risk, and supporting pricing and coverage decisions. Participants transition into a market-facing underwriter role, managing broker relationships and underwriting accounts day-to-day with increasing independence.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a business-related field and on track to graduate by Spring/Summer 2027.
- Strong analytical and intercommunication skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities, often under tight deadlines.

- Previous internship in underwriting or the insurance industry.
- Aptitude for automation and process improvement.
- Strong organizational and negotiation skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office experience.
