Claims Adjuster Trainee - Overland Park, KS
About The Position
Progressive is hiring a Claims Adjuster Trainee to help customers recover after vehicle accidents. This is not a field position; the adjuster builds relationships with customers over the phone and learns to manage claims from start to finish, efficiently handling a full caseload. The role includes in-depth training on property damage and insurance contracts, ongoing coaching from leaders, and support from a collaborative team. The position is hybrid for the first 12 months: employees work in the office two days selected by local leadership and may choose to work from home or the office on the other three days. After 12 months, in-office days for meetings, training, and collaboration will vary according to business needs. Employees may choose to work in the office more often. Candidates must reside in or near Overland Park, Kansas. During training, the schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After training, the schedule is Monday through Friday, with one of these shifts: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. After completing training and passing any necessary testing, the annual salary is $54,000–$57,500; during training, pay is hourly based on the annual salary. The role is also eligible for a gainshare annual cash incentive of up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance.
Requirements
- Three years of work experience, or a bachelor’s degree, or two years of work experience and an associate degree.
- Candidates must reside in or near Overland Park, Kansas.
- Complete training and pass any necessary testing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Determine coverage.
- Determine liability for damages.
- Interview customers, claimants, and witnesses.
- Partner with appraisers and estimators to manage vehicle repairs.
- Negotiate with customers and other insurance carriers and resolve claims.
- Manage claims from start to finish and handle a full caseload efficiently.
