About The Position

In this role, you will help grow visitation and tourism revenues by working with industry partners, stakeholders, and tourism operators to deliver strategic business development, marketing, and sales initiatives. Your work will help create opportunities for communities and businesses across Nova Scotia. As Market Development Specialist, you will lead business-to-business programming that helps increase visitation from priority markets. You will build strong partner relationships, promote Nova Scotia as a vacation destination, support marketing partnerships, and contribute to the development of export-ready products and itineraries. You will plan, deliver, evaluate, and improve programs that strengthen Nova Scotia’s presence in key markets and support tourism businesses in growing through partnership and sales opportunities. You will also manage budgets, coordinate partner communications, monitor deliverables, and use results and feedback to inform recommendations and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in tourism, business, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of related experience in sales, marketing, and program development and implementation.
  • Strong relationship-builder with sound judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, budgeting, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Takes initiative and works well independently.
  • Committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all aspects of work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence.

Nice To Haves

  • Destination marketing and/or sales experience.
  • Experience working with travel trade partners.
  • Experience collaborating with tourism partners on projects and providing strategic advice.
