About The Position

North America is HP's largest and most strategically important market, representing a significant share of the company's revenue, commercial business, partner ecosystem, and industry influence. The Market Communications Lead (MCL) for North America is the senior communications leader for the region and the single point of accountability for communications across the U.S. and Canada. Reporting to the Head of Global GTM Communications, the MCL is responsible for defining and driving the North America communications agenda in support of business priorities, market leadership, reputation, and growth. Leading the North America communications function, the role owns an integrated communications strategy spanning earned, owned, social, executive, product, commercial, and channel communications, ensuring a unified and differentiated market narrative. The successful candidate will bring a modern earned-first mindset, recognizing that influence is built through executive thought leadership, customer and partner advocacy, industry engagement, influencer engagement, social amplification, media, and other forms of third-party validation. Given the importance of HP's channel ecosystem to the region's success, this leader will define and advance communications strategies that strengthen partner engagement, amplify HP's market influence, and support business growth. Working in close partnership with Corporate Affairs, the MCL will identify opportunities to drive relevance and influence through regional storytelling, customer and partner advocacy, local market engagement, vertical industry narratives, and other forms of earned attention that advance North America business priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of communications experience, including leading integrated communications and influencing senior leaders across complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven experience leading communications for a major market, region, business unit, or enterprise organization.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior business leaders to shape communications strategies, executive positioning, and thought leadership programs that advance business objectives.
  • Deep expertise in earned-first communications, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement, with a demonstrated ability to build influence through executive visibility, customer and partner advocacy, influencer engagement, social amplification, content, community engagement, and media.
  • Strong understanding of channel, partner, and ecosystem-driven business models.
  • Exceptional storytelling, narrative development, and messaging skills, with the ability to translate business strategy into measurable communications outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of the North American media, analyst, influencer, and stakeholder landscape.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, managing agencies, and overseeing external partners and budgets.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience measuring impact, leveraging insights to inform strategy, and utilizing AI and emerging technologies to improve communications effectiveness.
  • Ability to operate comfortably at both strategic and executional levels within a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive a modern earned-first strategy that builds influence through executive thought leadership, customer and partner advocacy, industry engagement, influencer engagement, social amplification, media, and third-party validation.
  • Develop and execute executive positioning strategies for the North America Managing Director, Channel leadership, and key market leaders, strengthening HP's visibility and influence across business, industry, partner, analyst, media, and stakeholder audiences.
  • Identify and activate opportunities that increase HP's relevance through regional storytelling, local market engagement, customer success stories, partner advocacy, vertical industry narratives, and market-specific moments.
  • Create communications platforms and storytelling opportunities that generate awareness, engagement, advocacy, and influence across priority audiences.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs and Product Communications to extend corporate and product narratives through locally relevant programs that support North America business priorities.
  • Define and drive communications strategies that strengthen HP's leadership position within the channel ecosystem and support business growth through partners.
  • Partner closely with Channel leadership to increase engagement, advocacy, and visibility among priority partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop communications programs that strengthen partner confidence, support partner growth, and reinforce HP's position as a trusted channel leader.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen HP's influence across partner communities, industry ecosystems, and commercial audiences.
  • Lead and develop the U.S. Communications Lead and Canada Communications Lead, providing strategic direction, coaching, and leadership.
  • Establish priorities, operating rhythms, and clear measures of success for the North America communications function.
  • Partner across Corporate Affairs, Product Communications, Marketing, Channel, and business leadership to deliver a connected market communications agenda and ensure North America priorities are reflected in global programs.
  • Lead agency partnerships and external resources to extend market influence and scale strategic storytelling.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and business impact, while building capabilities that enable the team to anticipate opportunities, respond to market dynamics, and deliver measurable results.
  • Define meaningful success metrics and demonstrate communications impact through data, insights, and business-focused reporting.
