About The Position

NSA is looking for self-starters who can help support our mission. The Marker Maker role is in the Pre-Production department and is responsible for editing and creating marker files for optimum material utilization while minimizing production time. This role also assists the Pre-Production Manager with scheduling, documentation, and pattern management. The position involves cross-training in various departmental functions to foster a team-work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience in marker making or production setting preferred; prior experience in other related areas with additional skills may be considered.
  • Ability to scan out markers for easier items (within first 90 days for entry-level).
  • Ability to read marker and material sheets (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Ability to use TCM for needed information for combination finding shop order (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Ability to manage workflow by date, being ahead by 2 weeks of the due date (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Ability to make re-cuts as needed (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Ability to check markers made by coworkers (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Ability to check overcut list using up overcuts for open shop orders (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Knowledge of Cancellation and Promise request (Marker Maker Specialist).
  • Ability to complete average 80 markers a day and achieve an average MU of 88% (Senior Marker Maker).
  • Ability to handle Cancellation and Promise Request (Senior Marker Maker).
  • Ability to make markers and re-cuts for HQ and Arkansas as needed (Senior Marker Maker).
  • Comfortable working on markers for every garment other than gloves (Senior Marker Maker).
  • Ability to use combination markers independently (Senior Marker Maker).
  • Ability to make an average of 80+ markers per day (Lead Marker Maker).
  • Comfortable working on any items including gloves (Lead Marker Maker).
  • Ability to provide markers and recuts for HQ and Arkansas (Lead Marker Maker).

Nice To Haves

  • Marker Maker Specialist: Complete the average required daily marker count of 70.
  • Senior Marker Maker: 3+ years’ experience in Marker Making.
  • Lead Marker Maker: 5+ years’ experience in Marker Making.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange patterns for markers to achieve 88% material utilization and minimize cutting time by editing existing markers, combining sizes, and increasing quantities.
  • Store marker files clearly and accurately in Excel and Accumark for tracking material utilization, linking item numbers, and ensuring marker accuracy.
  • Pull and group shop orders for marker preparation based on priority.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the Pre-Production office and computer files/storage.
  • Verify accuracy of shop order instructions against Accumark Item Reference Sheet.
  • Provide additional information for shop orders, including promise and cut-by dates, work instructions, customer notes, and corrections.
  • Ensure markers contain material information, number of layers, item number, barcode, and other pertinent details.
  • Manage and organize the flow and storage of production-related information.
  • Maintain prepared markers and shop orders at least two weeks in advance of the request date.
  • Prepare markers/shop orders for stock items and parts as needed.
  • Assist with training new hires.
  • Identify orders that need private labels.
