About The Position

The Marine Technician will diagnose repair needs and perform designated repairs on company and customer-owned marine propulsion engines, auxiliary engines, generators, and related vessel systems. This role involves troubleshooting, notifying the Service Manager of outstanding issues, and completing tasks with limited supervision. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and troubleshooting skills with excellent analytical problem-solving abilities, a commitment to continuous self-development, and the ability to verify findings, review readings, and compare them to manufactured specifications. Responsibilities include installing, replacing, rebuilding, or repairing parts and equipment in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to all safety policies and procedures, and responding to after-hour emergency calls as directed. Quality checks and paperwork completion are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Clean driving record and current driver’s license.
  • Ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience servicing marine diesel engines, marine generators, propulsion systems, heavy equipment, or related power systems.
  • Caterpillar marine experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong Computer skills preferred, knowledge of SisWeb and ET.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose repair needs and perform designated repairs on marine propulsion engines, auxiliary engines, generators, and related vessel systems.
  • Perform necessary troubleshooting and notify Service Manager of outstanding issues.
  • Complete tasks with no/limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate extremely well developed technical and troubleshooting skills with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the need for continuous self-development and seek every opportunity to improve personal, technical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Verify findings, review readings of gauges and procedures, and compare to manufactured specs.
  • Install, replace, rebuild, or repair parts and/or equipment in a timely manner and according to specifications.
  • Consistently follow all safety policies and procedures, including wearing all Personal Protective Equipment at all times and adhering to contamination control guidelines.
  • Respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor.
  • Test the part or equipment and perform quality checks after work is complete.
  • Secure all equipment and machinery and complete all required paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Assist parts department in researching and ordering needed parts.
