About The Position

Global- a 1st Flagship Company, a woman-owned small business, is a leader in Marine Support Services and Emergency Management. As the Department of Navy's trusted Prime Contractor since 1964, they manage, operate, and maintain the U.S. Navy Inactive Ship fleet. This role involves working on military vessels such as destroyers, aircraft carriers, and other Navy vessels.

Requirements

One (1) year of relevant ship machinist mechanic experience under the guidance of a machinist mechanic or relevant experience in the military.
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be familiar with tools and their uses.
A current driver's license
Must observe safety precautions and ensure compliance in safety.
Must have good knowledge of blueprints, and manufacturers' specifications, to be able to disassemble and repair tools and equipment.

Nice To Haves

Experience or training in gasoline or diesel engine maintenance.
Prior military experience.

Responsibilities

Assists the Machinist/Mechanic in performance of tasks as directed.
Issues and examines tools and mechanical equipment.
Disassembles equipment as necessary, cleans parts, and performs necessary repair work.
Recognizes malfunctions in equipment and localizes defective areas for repairs.
Disassembles and repairs tools and equipment using knowledge of blueprints and manufacturers' specifications.
Becomes skillful in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary to perform repairs efficiently and economically.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Observes safety precautions and ensures compliance in safety.
Complies with Standard Operating Procedures related to duties assigned.
May be required to become forklift operator certified.
