About The Position

QED Systems, an established marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking qualified individuals experienced in marine mechanical applications. The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. Candidate must have familiarity with mechanical systems and components such as overhauling, grooming & repairing various types of equipment onboard Navy ships; experience with centrifugal pumps, vertical package conveyors and valve maintenance.

Requirements

Experienced (5+ years) Marine Mechanic with a complete understanding of production processes and specialty trades functions and tools.
Provide basic hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, wrenches, sockets and hammers.
Familiarity with mechanical systems and components
Ability to comply with all applicable safety regulations
Ability to work under industrial repair conditions
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to climb vertical/inclined ladders
U.S. citizenship required
Must be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards

Nice To Haves

Military technical school(s) desirable
Experience with Motor Driven Fire, AC, S/W & C/W system pumps
Experience with Vertical Package Conveyors
Experience with Fire Main, Chilled Water, JP5 valves of various sizes
Experience with JP5 Fuel Purifiers
Experience with DCVS/MVCS Hydraulic Actuator Stations
Experience with Sliding Padeyes
Experience with Gypsy winches
Experience with Mooring/Warping Capstans
Experience with Compressed Melt Units (CMU)
Experience with Metal/Glass Shredders
Experience with Pulpers
Experience aligning various types of pumps & motors

Responsibilities

Overhauling, grooming & repairing various types of equipment onboard Navy ships
Maintenance of centrifugal pumps, vertical package conveyors and valves
Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes (no less than 30 pounds)
Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals
Other duties as assigned
