About The Position

Global- a 1st Flagship Company, a woman-owned small business and a leader in Marine Support Services and Emergency Management, is seeking a Marine Mechanic Helper. As a trusted Prime Contractor for the Department of Navy since 1964, Global manages, operates, and maintains the U.S. Navy Inactive Ship fleet. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on military vessels such as destroyers and aircraft carriers in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Requirements

• Shall have basic working knowledge of various hand tools and small portable equipment.
• Knowledge must be sufficient to recognize malfunctions in the equipment and to be able to localize the defective area for repairs.
• Must have good knowledge of blueprints, and manufacturers' specifications, to be able to disassemble and repair tools and equipment.
• Must become skillful in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary to perform repairs in an efficient and economical manner.
• One (1) year of relevant ship machinist mechanic experience under the guidance of a machinist mechanic or relevant experience in the military.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be familiar with tools and their uses.
• A current driver's license.
• Position requires an extensive background check.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or training in gasoline or diesel engine maintenance.
• Prior military experience.
• May be to become forklift operator certified.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Machinist/Mechanic in performance of his tasks as directed.
• Issues and examines tools and mechanical equipment.
• Disassembles equipment as necessary.
• Cleans parts, and does necessary repair work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with Standard Operating Procedures related to duties assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.
