About The Position

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional mariachi instructor to teach part-time, in person at The Musician's Woodshed—North Parmer in Northwest Austin, Texas. The teacher is expected to start for the Fall 2026 school year. The instructor will lead weekly group mariachi classes and provide engaging, structured private lessons. They will prepare students for performances, recitals, or community events and foster a fun, inclusive, and educational learning environment. The school’s instructors design customized lesson plans around each student’s musical tastes, skill set, and personal goals, using a performance-based, flexible curriculum. Pay is commensurate with experience and ranges from $28 to $34 per hour. A 401(k) program with employer matching is available to employees after 90 days on the job. Health benefit options are available to part-time and full-time employees at Ensemble.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in mariachi performance and instruction.
Ability to teach both group mariachi classes and private one-on-one lessons.
Strong knowledge of traditional mariachi styles, repertoire, and instrumentation.
Ability to lead and guide ensemble rehearsals with confidence and clarity.
Experience working with students of varying ages and skill levels.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable, organized, and professional.

Nice To Haves

Experience directing or assisting a mariachi ensemble.
Ability to teach one or more mariachi instruments, such as violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela, guitarrón, or voice.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
