About The Position

Welocalize is seeking a Maps Quality Tester with a background in GIS or previous maps experience. The role contributes to finished products released in target markets around the world, working at a leading consumer technology company. The tester works closely with the development team to help ensure the client organization ships a high-quality application. They must be able to grasp and distill complex matters into clear reports and communicate and organize effectively in a fast-paced environment. The position is remote and based in Austin, Texas, with working hours of 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time. It is full-time for a 12-month contract, with a possible extension, and pays $23 per hour.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of maps and web-based mapping products.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience working with data and spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with using mobile devices for driving navigation, such as Apple Maps or Google Maps.
• Creative thinking and ability to understand the product from the user's perspective.
• Organized and self-sufficient, with the ability to work remotely without direct supervision.
• Ability to explain technical details in clear and concise reports.
• Must be based in Austin, Texas.

Nice To Haves

• Background in GIS or previous maps experience.
• Proficiency in using iOS and macOS (desirable).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred, particularly in Geography, Cartography, or a related field.
• Being an avid cyclist who tracks performance across different routes is considered relevant experience and a strong plus.
