About The Position

Welocalize is seeking a Maps Quality Tester with a background in GIS or previous maps experience. The role contributes to finished products released in target markets around the world and involves working closely with a development team to help ensure the client organization ships a high-quality application. The tester should be a quick study, self-starter, problem solver, and effective communicator who can deliver results in a fast-paced environment and distill complex matters into clear, understandable reports. The position is remote from Austin, Texas, with a stated schedule of 10:00 AM–7:00 PM CST. It is full-time and described as a 12-month contract with possible extension, at $23 per hour.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of maps and web-based mapping products.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience working with data and spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with mobile-device driving navigation applications such as Apple Maps or Google Maps.
• Ability to think creatively and understand the product from the user's perspective.
• Organized and self-sufficient, with the ability to work remotely without direct supervision.
• Ability to explain technical details in clear and concise reports.
• Must be Austin-based and work from home in Austin.
• GIS background or previous maps experience.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in iOS and macOS is desirable.
• A bachelor's degree or higher is preferred, particularly in Geography, Cartography, or a related field.
• Being an avid cyclist who tracks performance across different routes is considered relevant experience and a strong plus.
