About The Position

The Manufacturing Trainer will be responsible for teaching installation, troubleshooting, and operation of special systems on Pierce fire apparatus for small groups of team members in both a training and manufacturing environment. The trainer may work independently or as a team with other trainers. The Trainer will develop effective communications and positive working relationship with all team members as well as.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five or more years of mechanical experience in automotive or machinery applications (Heavy trucks, farm equipment, auto maintenance, etc.)
  • Previous assembly and/or electrical experience with fire apparatus
  • Comfortable speaking to groups in a classroom setting
  • Understand how to read assembly drawings

  • Previous experience training or teaching
  • Previous experience with basic hand tools
  • Understanding of JD Edwards System, Truck Builder, and other System Tools
  • Previous experience working with Pierce electrical systems
  • Electrical experience programing knowledge
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Hydraulic system knowledge
  • Plumbing knowledge
  • Experience viewing 3D models
  • Operate each system on the truck including, but not limited to foam systems, CAFS system, flow meters, electrical valves, dump chute.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training to team members regarding assembly/disassembly of fire apparatus and applicable tooling in accordance with Oshkosh and Pierce standards.
  • Provide training to team members regarding methods of performing tasks in a safe manner and according to safety policies and rules.
  • Provide other team member training and support as needed.
  • Communicate information positively and effectively in a training and manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain safety awareness.
  • Assist with creation of training curriculum and materials.
  • Conduct training in both a classroom and hands on environment.
  • Assist with creation and updating work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Reinstall all parts removed during training to support paint or assembly processes.
  • Provide build and process feedback from team member training to maximize product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in development of long-term manufacturing build processes on new product launches.
  • Provide support and training for the pump-build process.
  • Demonstrate how to use, leverage, and research Pierce Truck Builder.
  • Demonstrate how JDE2 is used on the production floor.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read a ruler to the 1/32” of an inch.
  • Assist with maintaining training records and testing
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment utilizing lean manufacturing and 5S techniques.
  • Demonstrate how to access and located technical information in E-Book.
